Earlier in the nomination stage of the Bubbas, which ends at midnight on Friday, June 18, we noticed an interesting trend as nomination ballots were received: People are voting in the Bubbas from across the globe!
From places like Sevastopol, Crimea off the Black Sea, to nations including Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Poland, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Scotland, England, Canada and 34 states — including D.C., Hawaii and Alaska — it seems everyone has a favorite something in Key West, Florida.
“Metrics like these are always fun because it reminds us of the intrigue and love people all over the planet have for Key West and the Florida Keys,” said Key West publisher Britt Myers. “Obviously, a contest like the Bubbas is very subjective. There are no losers, as everyone has a different favorite restaurant or bar, but seeing anything positive about Key West reach across other states and nations to connect us is always a bonus.”
Since this information was gathered, dozens of other nations and states have joined the map. We will give readers another geographical update as we enter the “Finals” stage, which will be revealed on June 24, when we announce the top three nominees in each category and let the daily voting begin.
