The giant truck came from North Carolina, not the North Pole, but it smelled like Christmas in Key West on Nov. 23, when volunteers unloaded more than 600 Christmas trees for the MARC organization’s annual tree sale.
Although not scheduled to start officially until Friday, Nov. 27, executive director Diana Flenard said they’ll start selling trees as soon as people want to start buying them. Workers at the Monroe Association for Remarkable Citizens have been busily unwrapping and setting up displays.
Two additional tree shipments will arrive in the first two weeks of December and the sale will last until Christmas Eve — or until all the trees are sold.
The tree sale is MARC’s largest annual fundraiser, and also features decorated wreaths, poinsettias, mistletoe airplants and a gift shop filled with ornaments and decorations.
