Welcome to Pisces season star children, come on in, the water’s fine. Pisces is more of a spell than a season, a hazy time where nothing is as it seems, and all things seem possible. Ruled by water daddy Neptune, Pisces is associated with the unconscious mind, psychic phenomena and that which exists beyond the horizon line of reason or explanation. There is no place for skepticism under these skies, rather we are asked to honor our intuition, decode our dreams and observe the omens present in our waking life. Pisces proves that understanding is not a prerequisite for knowing.

The spirit of this time is best described by Piscean author Anaïs Nin, “Anything I cannot transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn’t impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.” Free dive deep my friends but remember to come up for air.

Aries
March 21 – April 19

Photographer Nicolas Bruno creates haunting, surrealist works inspired by the living nightmare of his own chronic sleep paralysis.Being stuck between the world of sleep and consciousness offers me a perspective that is otherwise impossible to achieve.” Bruno records and then recreates the scenes and images he encounters in his liminal state. I invite you to adopt a similar approach, Aries, regard the effect of static stillness not with fear but reverent curiosity.

Notable Aries: Leonardo Da Vinci / April 15, 1452

Taurus
April 20 – May 20

The sun in Pisces lights up your eleventh house of collaboration. Your animal nature favors minimal work and heavy hedonism but if you align with the right kind of folks and forces, following through and leveling up is not only possible but probable. Take heed the words of Halford Luccock, “No one can whistle a symphony, it takes a whole orchestra to play it.” Strike up the band, bull.

Notable Taurus: Rosario Dawson / May 9, 1979

Gemini
May 21 – June 20

At present your ability to empathize with the pain and plight of others is heightened. This leaves you vulnerable to feeling psychically drained and/or emotionally burdened. The solution is to know when to say no, Gemini. Giving when you don’t want to, or lack the energy to do so properly, is a kind of deceit. Be honest about your limitations, compassionate in your boundary making and earnest in your efforts to help others find solutions that don’t come at the expense of your wellbeing.

Notable Gemini: Kodak Black / June 11, 1997

Cancer
June 21- July 22

A Buddhist text I recently read imparted the following wisdom, “Once you realize that ultimately, nobody but you is to blame, you have perceived the true nature of reality. This awakening is the first step in your human revolution.” I urge you Cancer; take the step, take the blame and allow all that fell before and all that follows after, to be forgiven.

Notable Cancer: John D. Rockefeller / July 8, 1839

Leo
July 23 to August 22

Circus cats are commonly trained using German commands. The clipped, guttural sounds are more effective in eliciting obedience. This has me wondering if the soft sonics of a Romance language are conducive to coaxing free will and reinstating wilderness. I trust you will have ample opportunity in the weeks ahead to test this theory by choosing the tone and trajectory of your inner monologue.

Notable Leo: Ronnie Spector / August 10, 1943

Virgo
August 23 to September 22

The word crisis derives from the Greek krisis, meaning, “the turning point in a disease, that change which indicates recovery or death.” If you find yourself amid any crisis Virgo, know that that this turning point is also the point of no return. Trust that whatever is lost was meant to be and the lightning of your load ensures your recovery.

Notable Virgo: Evan Rachel Wood /September 7, 1987

Libra
September 23 to October 22

Fellow Libra Marie Kondo spent five years as an attendant maiden at a Shinto shrine. Time there helped Kondo identify not what should be thrown away, but what should be held sacred. Because you Libras tend to be pack rats, of either the emotional or material variety, I bring Kondo’s lesson to your attention. I beseech you to adopt the practice of letting go as a way to worship what really matters.

Notable Libra: Doja Cat / October 21, 1995

Scorpio
October 23 to November 21

Songwriter and fellow Scorpio Joni Mitchell’s best work is born of intensity, evidence of her passionate encounters and bitter endings. In “Down To You,” she sings “Everything comes and goes, pleasure moves on too early and trouble leaves too slow.” I trust these words will resonate with you, Scorpio, as you experience both ends of the spectrum of feeling with unmatched depth. I urge to honor yourself by recognizing what pleasure is and is not, worth the trouble.

Notable Scorpio: Donald Kray / October 24, 1933

Sagittarius
November 22 to December 21

Artist and fellow Sagittarius Diego Rivera began drawing at age three as a response to the sudden death of his twin brother. When Rivera’s parents discovered him marking the walls of the family home with his work, they installed large scale chalkboards and canvases to encourage his expression. I bring you the story of how a twin died and a muralist was born in the hope that you will reward your own processing of pain and impulse to create with wide, welcoming walls.

Notable Sagittarius: Anna Nicole Smith / November 28, 1967

Capricorn
December 22 to January 19

Artist and fellow Capricorn Marc Quinn’s series “Big Bang Pop” was inspired by a kernel of popcorn, “I realized I was looking at the sculpture of an explosion, the DNA of the universe. But popcorn is also commonplace, something to eat at the movies. I love that coexistence of the banal and the sublime, and everyday miracles.” I invite you, sea goat, to adopt Quinn’s approach; marvel at the mundane, eulogize the ordinary and be ever on the lookout for everyday miracles.

Notable Capricorn: Greta Thunberg / January 3, 2003

Aquarius
January 20 to February 18

Fellow Aquarius and American blue blood Henry Adams wrote, “Every man should have a fair-sized cemetery in which to bury the faults of his friends.” I bring you these words and ask you to consider your own inner circle; what flaws should be forgiven and what harmful behaviors should be addressed? Love is equal parts accountability and acceptance. Make ready the graves and easy the grace.

Notable Aquarius: Ferdinand Magellan / February 3, 1480

Pisces
February 19 to March 20

Decorative Bonsai Trees are held captive by human intervention. Left alone, these trees can reach heights of up to seven feet. I offer you this knowledge as a personal plea. You routinely suppress your own desires, deny your own potential and trim your own branches, in the pursuit of pleasing others. Enough. Grow tall, grow true, and shake loose from your soil those that would have it otherwise.

Notable Pisces: Richard Ramirez/ February 29, 1960
