A ‘THANKSLIVING’ MESSAGE FROM REEF THE FOX

Hi friends! Reef the fox here with your weekly “Reef’s Report.” First of all, Happy Thanksliving. Yep, you read that right. Today is all about celebrating the fact that my fox friends and I are alive, loved, happy and healthy.

This is the time of year when all over the world, millions of fur-bearing animals will be murdered for their fur. Foxes born in the spring will not live to see their first birthday. It’s pretty horrific and senseless.

This is also your big yearly reminder to shop wisely this holiday season. Friday, Nov. 24 is Black Friday — the busiest shopping day of the year. While I’m sure we all get excited about good deals, where you spend your money matters. There are plenty of companies that are still complicit in the fur trade, even if they don’t sell fur. If you need a guide to cruelty-free shopping, I suggest looking at the Fur Free Retailer website. They do a great job of staying up to date on where it is “safe” to shop.

On a much lighter note, my mom, Nicole Navarro, has added another community partner to our list of “Pawsitive Change” clients. Ridley the fox and mom will be visiting Samuel’s House in Key West next week. How amazing is that? For those who may not know what Samuel’s House does, they have three incredible programs to help women, children and men. The Mary Spottswood Women’s Center is an emergency shelter for women either with or without children. Kathy’s Hope is a transitional living facility that provides short- or long-term living for women with or without children. And Casa De Meredith provides long-term housing for women with or without children, men with children and intact families.

Mom and Ridley will be visiting the Mary Spottswood center to speak with the women who live there.

Anywho, that’s all for this week. Keep up with all things fox by visiting our website at pawsitivebeginnings.org.

Until next time, Reef, over and out!
