FRONTLINE HEROES – First responders, Mariners staff exchange thank yous

They’re the frontline heroes throughout the pandemic. On May 13, they got together to show thanks and appreciation. Fire trucks from Key Largo, Islamorada and Monroe County, Monroe County sheriff’s vehicles and local residents in cars drove through Mariners Hospital in Tavernier to exchange thank-yous with the many nurses and staff who stood on the sidewalk holding signs. As the horns on the fire trucks blared, hospital employees waved back in a show of gratitude. Following the parade, Rick Freeburg, CEO at Mariners and Fishermen’s hospitals, Sheriff Rick Ramsay and state Rep. Holly Raschein shared a few words to express all the work Keys frontline heroes are doing to keep the community safe.
