KEY WEST, FL July 2, 2020 – The Vision Event Management-produced and promoted “Key Largo to Key West Challenge” virtual event yielded a $20,000 donation to Reef Relief, a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to improving & protecting our coral reef ecosystem. The donation was made possible through participant donations and a fund match from the promoter.

May 4 through June 28, nearly 3,000 participants representing all 50 U.S. states completed either 50, 100 or 200 miles through any fitness discipline of choice – running, walking, cycling, swimming, paddle boarding, etc. – during the Key Largo to Key West Virtual Challenge. The distances were based on these key routes in the Florida Keys: Marathon Key to Key West (50 miles), Key Largo to Key West (100 Miles) and Roundtrip Key Largo to Key West and back (200 miles). Top states represented were Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

“We are so appreciative of everyone who participated in the Key West to Key Largo Challenge! All donations from the race will go directly to our youth education and community outreach programs,” said Alex Risius, Reef Relief Assistant Program Director. “We are so lucky to have such an amazing support group that helps us preserve and protect our coral reef ecosystem. Thank you again to everyone who donated and participated!”

“The Key Largo to Key West Virtual Challenge exceeded our expectations. We are humbled by the love and support our participants have demonstrated for each other and for our charitable partner Reef Relief” said Jeff Graves, president of Vision Event Management, the virtual event promoter. “We simply wanted to offer people across the country a fun opportunity to escape the uncertain time in which we were all unexpectedly immersed.  We are complete awe of the generosity shown and friendships forged. It is a time in our lives none of us will ever forget but, together, we were able to find a positive.”
