LOCAL PASTOR BLESSES ALL ISLAND ANIMALS — FROM THE AQUARIUM TO THE IGUANAS

Rev. Daybree Thoms of Unity of the Keys has been criss-crossing Key West, bestowing blessings to the island’s animals — all the animals. The newly renovated Key West Wildlife Center hosted the 4th annual Blessing of the Animals on April 26.

This annual event celebrates the bond between humans and all living beings, honoring the creatures with whom we share our world.

In addition to blessing numerous pets, Thoms included the mounted police horses of the Key West Police Department and the trained dogs of the K-9 unit.

But she didn’t stop there. Her mission took her all over town, from the SPCA and the Hemingway Home & Museum, from the Key West Aquarium to chance encounters with chickens, geckos and the occasional iguana.

Thoms also offered blessings through photographs, including for pets who have passed on, ensuring that love and remembrance reached every corner.More information is at unityofthekeys.org.
