POLICE CHIEF PROMOTES STOCKTON & PETERS

Key West Police Chief Sean Brandenburg on Dec. 14 swore in Lt. Joe Stockton following his promotion from sergeant. 

Stockton began his law enforcement career in August 2009 and has served as a road patrol officer, field training officer, DUI enforcement officer, motorcycle officer, motor unit coordinator and FDLE instructor.

After being promoted to sergeant In 2018, he was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division as the detective sergeant of the Special Investigations Unit. He worked closely with local and federal partner agencies as a Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force officer while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Special Investigations Unit.

In 2021, Stockton became commander of the Professional Standards Division and enabled the KWPD to achieve its first-ever Excelsior status designation from the Commission of Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.

Stockton has received multiple Life Saving Awards, Chief’s Commendations, Officer of the Half and Officer of the Year in 2017. He also serves as the current Police Athletic League treasurer and its past vice president. He’s been a member of the Police Love Fund board and volunteers with other civic groups.

Sgt. Tiffini Peters

Also on Dec. 14, Brandenburg promoted Tiffini Peters to sergeant during a swearing-in ceremony at City Hall.

Peters’ criminal justice career started in 2004, when she began working for the public defenders’ office. She holds bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice and psychology, and a master’s degree in criminal justice, all earned at the University of Central Florida.

Since joining Key West Police Department in May 2009, she has worked as a narcotics detective, road patrol officer, field evidence technician, accreditation manager, criminal investigations detective, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force officer, Homeland Security Investigations Task Force officer and as a member of the Monroe County Sexual Assault Response Team.

Peters also serves on the board of Christina’s Courage, the Police Athletic League, and for many years was in a leadership role with the Key West Police Department’s Love Fund. She  is committed to supporting local kids during challenging moments.
