The Third Annual Send It South Paddle Challenge, an event that raises money for Florida Bay education programs for the Islamorada-based
nonprofit Florida Bay Forever, invites paddlers of all craft to join the campaign and get out on the water now through Dec. 3. Virtual participation is encouraged, and two events are being hosted.

“We are excited to launch the Send it South Challenge for a third consecutive year,” said executive director Jeff Baumgartner. “Everglades
restoration is really gaining traction and support at the local, state and federal levels – it’s a great time to join the advocacy efforts while enjoying the water.”

Events kicked off with a Launch Party at I Can See Clear Kayaking at Lorelei’s (MM82) on Saturday, Nov. 26. A wrap-up celebration will take place the following Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants are encouraged to take advantage of special pricing offered by our partners, I Can See Clear Kayaking and Paddle the Florida Keys in Tavernier (MM90). Race packets can be picked up at the Florida Bay Forever Eco Center at the Green Turtle Hammock Tuesday, Nov. 29 through Friday Dec. 2 , from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Katrina Reneau, owner of I Can See Clear Kayaking in Islamorada, is proud to partner with Florida Bay Forever. “This fun and exciting adventure will bring awareness and much needed funds to this wonderful organization. We want to help keep Florida Bay, that encompasses so many majestic mangrove tunnels that we paddle our 100% clear kayak tours through every day, clean and abundant with marine life. My heart and efforts go towards keeping and promoting future strategies on sustaining healthy water for our precious Florida Bay.”

The new owner of Paddle the Florida Keys, Deven Carrier has offered a 10% discount for rentals and tours for event participants. I Can See Clear Kayaking is offering a special discounted rate for participants at the launch and wrap-up events.
