COCONUT CREEK MAN FACING DRUG CHARGES FOLLOWING TRESPASSING REPORT ON STOCK ISLAND

A 25-year-old Coconut Creek man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly possessing nearly 9 ounces of marijuana and prescription pills.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, John Tyler Roberts was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Roberts was arrested after the sheriff’s office was notified of trespassing issues on the 6800 block of Shrimp Road on Stock Island. It was learned Roberts was trespassing on the property. He has a previous arrest in Monroe County for failure to register as a convicted criminal. His lengthy criminal history in Broward County includes possession of fentanyl, possession of cocaine, grand theft, burglary and resisting arrest, among other offenses.

Approximately 250.5 grams of marijuana in four separate bags and 17 Clonazepam pills, and an electronic scale were found following a search of the area where Roberts camping/living. He was taken to jail.
