Key West Art & Historical Society’s art exhibition, “From a Woman’s Hand,” launched Jan. 17 and will be on display at the Custom House Museum through  March 22.  The exhibit features paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, prints, textiles and ceramics created by female artists.

Drawn entirely from the Keys community, the exhibit illuminates the remarkable achievements of women artists, addressing the gender imbalance in the art world. This is particularly important as 2020 marks the centenary of women’s suffrage in America. This exhibit contributes to the commemoration of this milestone. Arts community leaders Jane Grannis, Martha Resk, Lois Songer and Cori Convertito juried the exhibit.

This year’s rendition of the biannual exhibit illuminates the remarkable achievements of women artists despite gender imbalance in the art world while also contributing to the centenary commemoration of women’s suffrage in America. Featuring the works of 39 female Keys artists, “From a Woman’s Hand” runs until March 22 at the Custom House Museum, 281 Front Street, and is sponsored by the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs.
