E-BIKER REPORTEDLY HITS TRICYCLE RIDER IN LOWER KEYS, CHARGED WITH DUI

A 53-year-old Key West  man was arrested on April 1 after he allegedly rode an e-bike while intoxicated after getting in a crash. 

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Christian Everett Madrid was riding an e-bike when he was involved in a crash with a tricycle at south College Road and U.S. 1 at approximately 10:26 p.m. The other adult on the tricycle said Madrid rode into him and that Madrid appeared to be intoxicated. 

Madrid was taken into custody after failing field sobriety exercises. Approximately three marijuana cigarettes were found in Madrid’s possession as he was being booked into jail. He was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and smuggling contraband into a detention facility.

There were no serious injuries reported.
