Are the days going by super fast, or is it just me?

More and more people are getting outside to walk, bike or partake in some physical activity. ANDREA PIACQUADIO/Contributed

It’s so easy to get sucked into the extra sleep and no guilt around watching TV, or even eating those Oreos. The Oreos with the extra filling are amazing. Sorry, I digressed.

I put the question out there last week to find out what other activities people are doing to stay busy, productive and keep a positive mindset, as we all have concerns in some way, shape or form.

  1. This first one is cliché, I’m sure, but cleaning. Cleaning is proven to be therapeutic. Personally, once I start, I cannot stop and I become a cleaning maniac. I do tend to put it off when I am busy with work. There are fabulous smelling products available that can help elevate your mood and make cleaning fun. Yes, I said it, make cleaning fun.
  2. Some people are going the extra mile and then posting items online to resell. It takes time, so often, people do not do that. Now is a great time to make a little extra cash.
  3. Walking and biking. I think there are people taking walks or biking that never have before. I was excited to hear that my neighbor walked about 4 miles the other day and it helped her feel better. I’ve seen photos of friends boating with their spouses that generally don’t have time to do that, myself included. More and more people are telling me every day that they can get outside and do some activity.
  1. Take your work outside. Take advantage of the fact it’s not 100 degrees yet and bring your computer or work outside. It shifts your whole perspective and allows more creativity to flow.
  1. Dream! Who does this anymore? Have you ever just sat in your chair or outside and just let your mind wander? Design your perfect job or your perfect house?  Your perfect vacation? Look through some magazines if you need to get some ideas. I set up my lawn chair in the backyard, and every day, I am sitting in my chair for at least an hour with a book and my journal and taking some time to dream.
  1. Redesign. That’s been a popular word too. Redesign your schedule, company, eating habits or workout habits. Often, we are just on autopilot and eat the same way or run our businesses the same way. Now is a great time to reflect and make changes that will generate better health, happiness or income.

When I reread what I wrote above, I realize that a lot of those ideas have to do with being outside. How fortunate we are that we live somewhere where we can go outside. I am taking advantage of that with full appreciation. Are you?
