Marathon freshman Shaina Robinson played a pivotal role in helping the Lady Fins capture their first district volleyball championship in nearly a quarter century. Despite her youth, Robinson plays with the focus and maturity of a seasoned upperclassman, and her performance in the Oct. 15 title match was nothing short of spectacular.

After recording just one kill in the opening set, Robinson caught fire over the final three, finishing the championship match with 24 kills, four blocks and an ace. Her final kill of the night was also her 250th of the season, adding a personal milestone to an already historic evening for Marathon volleyball.

“She’s one of the hardest workers on the team and always does what is asked of her,” said Lady Fins head coach Kevin Freeman. “She’s also a good teammate. She genuinely gets excited when her teammates do well, and that excitement spills over.”

For her contribution to Marathon’s district title, Marathon’s Shaina Robinson is the Keys Weekly Athlete of the Week.

“Shaina has had an incredible year, and has really turned it up the last couple of weeks.” – Kevin Freeman, Lady Fins head coach
