A charity golf tournament on the water welcomed teams dressed as Minions, gods and goddesses, “Dodgeball’s” Average Joes and Globo Gym and more on Sept. 26. One of the most unusual events in the Florida Keys, the annual Conch Scramble Charity Golf Tournament saw participants visiting various Islamorada waterfront venues to shoot fish-food golf balls onto floating greens. Taking first place was the Average Joes from Palm and Par. Best hole went to the Ekblom residence for the “Candyland” theme. The most spirited team went to Team Globo Gym, also from Palm and Par. “We have so many special people behind the scenes that make this whole thing happen — our amazing volunteers, and most of all, our board,” said Sam Arce, board chair for the event. Event proceeds will support the Coral Shores High School’s soccer and wrestling programs, Elite Dance of the Keys and Florida Keys History & Discovery Center.
