Every month, highly qualified local Coast Guard Auxiliary Air Operations Group members work with the Air Station Miami to provide valuable training for the men and women who perform search and rescue missions in the southeast Florida area.
On the morning of Nov. 26, the air groups met two helicopters a short distance from the headpin at Snake Creek for a training mission. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 13-8 is located in Islamorada and serves the Upper Keys from Key Largo to Long Key. Flotilla 13-4 is located at Ocean Reef. These two flotillas provide support to the stations in Islamorada and Miami, as well as to our local community. Combined, the flotillas have over 100 members.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary is comprised of devoted and passionate men and women who bring safety to the recreational boating and paddle sport community through education and awareness, as well as outreach and prevention.
