In pictures: Hundreds flood U.S. 1 with pink for annual Hope Walk for cancer

The side of Overseas Highway ran pink on Oct. 24 with the return of the Florida Keys Hope Walk. Starting at the Marathon Fire Rescue station, walkers of all ages put one foot in front of the other for a cause hitting close to home. The annual walk celebrates survivors, honors lost loved ones and shows those still fighting cancer in the Florida Keys and beyond that the community has their back. The 2026 walk served to honor and remember longtime locals Clara and Jerry Mayette, with a luminaria walk at Crane Point up next on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Donations are still open for the event, benefiting the American Cancer Society. For more information or to make a donation, scan the QR code. Photos contributed
