MARATHON GIRLS SOCCER EARNS FIRST WIN IN DOMINANT 8-0 SHUTOUT

The Marathon Dolphins girls soccer team can enter the holiday break on a high note, thanks to a dominant 8-0 dismantling of Miami Community Charter on Dec. 16. “MCC had the better record going into the match and had played similarly against the same teams we play,” said head coach Tracy McDonald. “The pieces finally came together and the work is paying off. Marathon received 4 goals from Rain Banks, coupled with tallies from Jasmine Keomaniboth, Jordan MacDonald, Aliyah Gonzalez and Hannah Davis to secure a mercy rule win. “Before the game, I told the defense that I hoped they would be bored, and for the most part that was true,” said McDonald. “I’m really proud of how well they communicated with one another and have learned not only to play soccer, but play together.” Marathon’s next home contest is on Thursday, Jan. 6 against Keys rival Coral Shores.
