The membership of the Islamorada Moose Lodge 2151 recently recognized Dennis Ward as its 2020 Islamorada Moose Lodge Man of the Year.

Ward has been a leader in the lodge for many years, as he initiated and served as committee chairman for the annual Seafood and Bacon festivals; volunteered in the lodge’s community cleanup efforts; organized the feeding of Coast Guardsmen during the government shutdown; sponsored entertainment for events, organized a fundraiser for David Gonzalez, a severely injured fireman, which raised over $15,000; and spearheaded a food pantry drive when COVID-19 struck.

Outside of the lodge, Ward has served the community as an organizer of Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride, commander of the Key Largo VFW Lodge and vice junior commander for VFW District 5. He also has held seats on the boards of many local institutions and Islamorada Village Council. He’s currently serving his second term as Monroe County State Attorney and seeking re-election.

The lodge recognized his commitment and constant willingness to donate his energy and resources for the Islamorada Moose Lodge and local community.
