#SeenAroundTown: Festival of Tree culminates in Gala - A group of people in a room - Christmas tree

Another year means another success for the Zonta Club in Marathon. The annual Festival of Trees raises funds for local scholarships as well as a chance to see 20 beautifully decorated trees, and a handful of gift baskets and wreaths. The collection was judged by Carol Later, Fran Mears and Beth Schofield. Best in show went to Ysenia Ramirez, also the Zonta coordinator for the event, and the tree was won by Kayla Sipe. The award for most unique went to Pat Forster for her lighted collage of costume jewelry and Gloria Simpson won the art to take home. The best holiday theme went to the “St. Patty’s Christmas” tree by Deb Wonderlin, Katrina Wiatt and Cindy Durkin-Bull. Neal Janor won that tree. At presstime, organizers are still counting the donations to tally up the total raised, made possible with the help of many community partners.
