The Marathon Yacht Club recently welcomed and honored Stanley Switlik Elementary School’s top young readers with a special celebration lunch recognizing their dedication, enthusiasm and outstanding achievements in reading.
Stanley Switlik’s annual “Accelerated Reader” campaign encourages students to participate in reading challenges, contests and educational milestones throughout the school year. Students who meet their reading goals earn special “brag tags” and recognition for their accomplishments and commitment to learning.
Each year, the yacht club supports this effort by hosting the school’s standout readers for a lunch celebration. This year, the club welcomed 47 students ranging from first through fifth grade to enjoy lunch and be recognized for their hard work and academic success.
The event served as a tribute to the students’ dedication while also highlighting the connection between the yacht club and the local community. Club members and staff were honored to celebrate these impressive young students and encourage their continued love of books and education.
As the yacht club celebrates its 75th anniversary, it continues a long-standing tradition of giving back to the community and supporting local youth programs, education and family-focused events throughout the Keys.
“The Marathon Yacht Club is proud to recognize these amazing students and their achievements,” said club representatives in a press release. “Encouraging literacy and supporting our local schools is an important part of serving our community. We congratulate every student for their dedication and success.”
