MHS FIVE-SPORT VARSITY LETTER WINNER NAMED TO STATE COMMITTEE

MHS Senior Rylan Chapa

Marathon High School senior Rylan Chapa has been chosen as one of 16 student-athletes in the state to be appointed to the Florida High School Athletic Association Student Athlete Advisory Committee. The committee serves as a link in identifying concerns that face the student-athletes in Florida. The members were chosen based on sports participation, extracurriculars, essay and leadership skills. Chapa, who has a 4.0 GPA and ranks third in her class, is taking five advanced placement classes this year. She has her sights set on Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Clemson, Michigan and Florida State. She was MHS Female Athlete of the Year for 2020-2021 as a junior; a five-sport varsity letter winner in 2020-2021 — in volleyball, soccer, girls weightlifting, tennis and track. In girls weightlifting, she was the 2021 district and regional champion in Class 1A at 105 pounds; she also placed 6th at the 2021 girls weightlifting state championships in the 105-pounds class.
