What the Stars Have in Store

Astrology Column

Practice your mental tightrope walking to prepare for the shifting scales and perilous balances of Libra season. Equanimity and empathy are the ruling forces under these skies. You might find yourself more acutely aware of the injustices plaguing the world. Or, if you’re of a different ilk, your awareness turns to the injustices, real or perceived, in your own life.

According to legend, it was under the constellation of Libra that Romulus, drunk on wolf milk and fresh from killing his twin brother, founded the city of Rome. Modern parable? Aside from the obvious lesson that feral calcium is essential to empire building, this myth reminds us that now is the favored time of new beginnings. Politically, it’s notable that the House announced impeachment proceedings one day into Libra season, beginning a new era of judicious inquiry. Libra season also brings with it the enhanced ability to consider other perspectives, making it a prime time to join forces and forge cities, real or metaphorical.

Ruled by air, Libra is marked more by talk than action, and passivity and indecisiveness are hallmarks of the sign. The danger of Libras and their respective season lies in recognizing patterns of imbalance, injustice, or unhappiness and making no moves to correct them. It is worth noting that Libra is the only sign in the zodiac represented by an inanimate object. This is not a criticism per se, but a cautionary observation. Cities, after all, are built by the combination of inanimate objects and willfull energies. Choose your tools carefully, and get to work.
