SIMULATED CAR CRASH HEADLINES SAFE & SOBER MARATHON HIGH SCHOOL PROM EVENT

Marathon High students exited the school’s doors to a grisly scene on April 28, as the school’s Champions for Change club hosted its annual Safe & Sober Prom demonstration. Watching as first responders extracted their “injured” classmates from a simulated drunk-driving crash, students spent the rest of the morning in educational presentations and stations to illustrate the dangers and lifelong legal consequences of seconds of poor decision-making and substance abuse on prom night. Students starred in all aspects of the demonstration, from Drama Club actors caked in gory makeup as the crash victims to fire rescue cadets aiding in dismantling the car and stabilizing its occupants.
