NEW KIDS BOOK EXPLAINS KEY WEST’S ‘ONE HUMAN FAMILY’ PHILOSOPHY

Key Westers Chad Remmert and his father Kelly create stunningly realistic sculptures of real people with 3-D printers at 3D Mini Me on Duval Street.

Chad Remmert also creates two-dimensional projects in the form of children’s books, and his latest celebrates Key West’s One Human Family philosophy and explains it to the next generation.

“Last year, our city commission named May 6 as ‘JT Day’ and that inspired me to help our children understand how unique and loving our community is on May 6 this year,” Chad Remmert said, referring to community activist JT Thompson who created the One Human Family campaign.

Remmert wrote a poetic story about how One Human Family connects the hearts and people around the world with “golden threads,” in a way a child can understand, Thompson said of the book.

“Chad is giving away 100 free books to children 12 and under (one per family) on Saturday, May 9 at 3D Mini Me at 712 Duval St.,” Thompson said. “And for every book he gives to a child, Chad will donate $5 to continue the One Human Family’s mission. Lots of us wish we could do more to teach young folks how important unity, equality and diversity is. Chad has done exactly that.”

Remmert has created five other children’s books in his “Key West Legends” series.
